HC Deb 21 April 1969 vol 782 cc25-6W
Mrs. Ewing

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will name the 15 persons whose paid appointments were made within his patronage, giving in each instance the title of the appointment, the remuneration received and the home address of the recipient.

1958 Mr. Roy Jenkins

I assume that the hon. Member is referring to the total of fifteen statutory appointments within my patronage that I gave in reply to her Question of 26th February, 1969. Of these fourteen are remunerated by salary and one by fee. Only eleven appointments have been made. The details are as follows:

Decimal Currency Board

  • Chairman: Lord Fiske £3,500 p.a.
  • Deputy Chairman: Lord Errol £2,000 p.a.
  • Members: Mr. J. G. Bothwell, Mr. H. G. Conway, Mr. P. H. Dixon, Mrs. E M Dodds.
  • 26
  • Mr. B. W. Goodman, Lord Halsbury, Mr. E. J. N. Warburton, Mr. J. H. Wiggins, normally £750 p.a. but this may, on occasion, be abated.

The Decimal Currency Act, 1967, provides that the Board shall consist of a chairman and not less than six nor more than thirteen other members, i.e., a maximum of fourteen. Only ten appointments have been made.

Tribunal of Inquiry under the Prevention of Fraud (Investments) Act,

Member: Sir Henry Benson, 15 guineas per day.

I would ask the hon. Member to obtain addresses from published sources of reference.
