HC Deb 17 April 1969 vol 781 cc295-6W
Mr. Roebuck

asked the Secretary of State for Defence why four soldiers' families of the 1st Battalion the Gordon Highlanders stationed in West Germany were ordered to vacate their quarters so that they could be occupied by the families of non-commissioned officers; and what was the cost to public funds, including disturbance allowances, time off for the soldiers to facilitate the removal, and the use of Army vehicles.

Mr. Boyden

The move of the four soldiers' families followed a decision to house the battalion's junior and senior ranks in separate blocks of flats.

The extra cost to public funds was about £50.
