HC Deb 17 April 1969 vol 781 c287W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware that the hon. Member for West Ham, North wrote to his Department about Mrs. Richardson of Forest Gate, E.7, on 31st January, 1969, that on 5th March the hon. Member received an interim reply that a further reply was promised after 12th March and by 29th March no such letter was sent; and whether he will investigate all matters connected with this subject.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

As I have explained to my hon. Friend, inquiries could not be made into the serious allegations brought against police officers until after court proceedings had been completed on 12th March. Interim replies were sent to my hon. Friend on 10th February and 5th March. A police report was received in the Home Office on 1st April and a full reply was sent on 3rd April.
