HC Deb 14 April 1969 vol 781 c209W
63. Mr. Rankin

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware that traffic is more prone to skidding on the M4 than on any other motorway in Great Britain; if he has ascertained the cause of this; and what is being done to make the motorway safe for users.

Mr. Marsh

A recent report by the Road Research Laboratory has shown that in wet conditions the skidding accident rate on parts of the M4 is above the national average for motorways. Further investigations are being made into what remedial measures are necessary.
