HC Deb 14 April 1969 vol 781 cc217-8W
Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what is the number of workers affected by the closure of the Inverurie Locomotive Works who have moved to the City of Aberdeen in search of alternative work; how many of them have been found employment in the City of Aberdeen; and what provision she has made for assisting them and their families.

Mr. Fernyhough

No notices of discharge have yet been issued to workers at the Inverurie Locomotive Works. Of those workers who have left in advance of formal notice of discharge, I am aware of only two who have moved their homes to the City of Aberdeen after obtaining employment in that city. Both were given assistance under my Department's Resettlement Transfer Scheme. Any application from workers seeking assistance under this Scheme in connection with movement to employment in another area would be considered on an individual basis, regard being paid to all relevant circumstances.
