Osborneasked the President of the Board of Trade in view of the failure to curb imports and to produce a favourable balance of payments and the fact that over the nine years 1959 to 1967 the United States exports to the United Kingdom exceeded her imports from the United Kingdom by £1,303 million and in the case of Canada by £1,747 million, if he will seek to impose physical limits on imports from the United States of America and Canada.
§ Mr. DellNo. It would be contrary to our interests as a trading nation to encourage the balancing of trade on a bilateral basis or to practice discrimination of this sort, which would also be contrary to our international obligations.
