HC Deb 03 April 1969 vol 781 cc148-9W
Mr. E. Rowlands

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the number of clerical grade officers and senior officers employed by the Cardiff Executive Council to check the entitlement to exemption from prescription charges; what is their estimated annual cost; what was the number of prescriptions checked between September, 1968, and January, 1969; what was the number of patients found not to have been entitled to exemption; and what was the total of the charges recovered from those patients.

Mr. George Thomas

About three-quarters of the time of a clerical officer and a twentieth of the time of a senior officer, at an annual cost of about £500. Checks were completed on about 2,000 forms, and 21 patients were found not to have been entitled to exemption. The total amount recovered was £3 15s. 0d.
