HC Deb 03 April 1969 vol 781 c155W
Mr. David Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied that the criteria governing the granting of entry visas for students from overseas, offers sufficient protection to prevent the infiltration of students trained to overthrow the Parliamentary Government in this country; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

The assessment of applications by foreign nationals to enter or stay here as students does not include scrutiny of their political opinions; but the record of the applicant is taken into account, and the Aliens Order provides adequate powers to exclude an alien whose entry would be undesirable, or to expel one whose presence here is not conducive to the public good.
