Dr. Winstanley

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many persons are now employed by the Land Commission.

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will state the approximate annual cost of all wages and salaries at present paid by his Department in respect of employees of the Land Commission.

Approximately £1,850,000.

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what was the amount raised, in the form of levy, by the Land Commission during the most recent period of 12 months for which figures are available; and what estimate he has made of the amount which would have been raised on the relevant transactions by Capital Gains Tax.

In the 12-month period ending 28th February, 1969, the amount of levy assessed was £12,956,000.

No estimate has been made of the amount which would have been raised on these transactions by Capital Gains Tax.

Mr. Onslow

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many staff are currently employed by the Land Commission; and how many of these are non-established civil servants.
