Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) where tests have been carried out by his Department in hot, wet tropical conditions of C.S. gas cartridges and C.S. grenades, of the type taken to Anguilla;

(2) what tests he has carried out in hot, wet tropical conditions of the effect of C.S. gas cartridges and C.S. grenades, of the type taken to Anguilla.

In the main we rely on information made available to us by the United States of America about the effect of C.S. in hot, wet conditions, though we have carried out limited tests ourselves at Porton.
