HC Deb 03 April 1969 vol 781 cc167-8W
Mr. Leslie Huckfield

asked the Minister of Transport which local authorities he has asked to participate in recent experiments to encourage the use of smaller cars by commuters; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Marsh

Three local authorities, including Coventry, have been approached to find out whether they would co-operate in an experiment to establish whether there would be any advantage, in terms of the use of space in urban areas, in segregating cars parked off-street by size. Negotiations are continuing but no decisions have so far been reached. There is no question of discriminating, through the experiment, against large cars for city use.
