asked the Prime Minister whether he will now announce the names of the members of the Commission on the Constitution.

The Prime Minister

Yes. I am glad to be able to tell the House that The Queen has been pleased to approve that the following be appointed members of the Commission on the Constitution:

  • Mr. D. Basnett, National Industrial Officer, General and Municipal Workers Union.
  • Mr. A. Talfan Davies, Q.C., M.A., LL.B., Recorder of Cardiff.
  • The Lord Foot, Solicitor.
  • Alderman Sir Mark Henig, Director, Henig and Sons, Ltd., Leicester. Chairman, East Midlands Economic Planning Council.
  • The Right hon. Douglas Houghton, C.H., M.P., Chairman, Parliamentary Labour Party.
  • Mr. N. C. Hunt, Ph.D., Fellow and Lecturer in Politics, Exeter College, Oxford.
  • The Hon. The Lord Kilbrandon, Senator of College of Justice in Scotland and Lord of Session.
