§ 49. Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he has considered the communication from the hon. Member for West Ham, North dated 24th March together with enclosures regarding his Department's failure to act when a constituent of the hon. Member for West Ham, North requested an investigation into an example of overcharging in a supermarket store just before Christmas; why the person was advised by the Department to go back to the manager of the store to 99W settle the dispute herself; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. HoyI am writing to the hon. Member about this case. In my view there can be little doubt that an assistant had made a mistake in marking the price on the packet. This would have been immediately put right had a complaint been made to the manager of the shop.
