HC Deb 02 April 1969 vol 781 cc99-100W
Mr. Costain

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the total tonnage of continental feed wheat and feeding barley imported into the United Kingdom since 1st July, 1968, which has been registered for delivery up to 30th June, 1969.

Mr. Hoy

The total amount of commitments of continental feed wheat for import during the current season 1st July, 1968–30th June, 1969, so far notified to the Ministry is 630,000 tons.

The commitment figures do not distinguish between feeding and other barley. The total amount of commitments of barley from all sources for arrival during the period 1st July, 1968–30th June, 1969, is 250,000 tons, of which 40,000–60,000 tons (depending on sellers' options) would be continental barley.
