Osborneasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, in view of the fact that the Bank Rate is 3 per cent. in Germany, 2½ per cent. in Portugal, 3½ per cent. in Italy and Norway, and 3¾ per cent. in Austria, if he will give an undertaking not to increase the rate in the United Kingdom above 8 per cent.
