§ Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the progress made in the establishment of the Open University, and on the date on which it is now expected to commence operations.
§ Miss Jennie LeeThe Open University Planning Committee is due to report before the end of November. The Vice-Chancellor has been appointed, and other senior appointments have been made. It is expected that the Charter will be granted next spring; and preparations are going ahead on the basis that students will be enrolled in 1970.
