§ Mr. Longdenasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the percentage of the gross national product which was being spent on defence in October. 1964 and which is being spent today.
§ Mr. TaverneIn 1964–65 expenditure on the Defence Budget was 6.6 per cent. of the gross national product at factor cost. As indicated in the Statement on the Defence Estimates, 1968, in 1968–69 this proportion is expected to be about 6 per cent. I regret that these percentages are not available for individual months.
