§ 57. Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he will give an assurance that all schools and places of education coming within the jurisdiction of his Department hold periodical fire drills; and whether he will arrange for a lecture at periodic intervals to be given to all pupils on the hazards of fire and the means and methods of combating same.
§ Miss BaconIt is for the responsible authorities and the head teachers and principals of schools and colleges to ensure that pupils and students are familiar with the measures to be taken in the event of fire and to give any necessary instruction in fire prevention. I attached the greatest importance to regular fire drill in schools and colleges.
