§ Mr. Roebuckasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what suggestions he has received from the Press for improvements in the provisions of the Criminal Justice Act, 1967 with regard to the reporting of proceedings; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. CallaghanI have received from the Press and other sources a number of 341W suggestions relating to these provisions. One or two procedural matters have been dealt with by amendment of the Magistrates' Courts Rules or the issue of circulars to the courts. I do not, however, think that the time has yet come to reconsider the provisions of the Act, which were fully debated by Parliament less than two years ago.
