HL Deb 21 November 1968 vol 297 c1128WA
LORD GRANVILLE OF EYE

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is intended to move the Ministry of Social Service offices from Cirencester; and, if so, in which area it will be situated.

LORD BOWLES

There are no plans to remove the local social security office from Cirencester. In accordance with the Department's policy of concentrating its work into larger and more efficient offices, the backroom work from Cirencester will in due course be transferred, mainly to Stroud. A local social security office will, however, be maintained in Cirencester to deal with personal claims and enquiries.

House adjourned at twelve minutes past eight o'clock.
