§ Mr. William Wilsonasked the President of the Board of Trade, if he is aware new machinery and equipment purchased for use in the development areas with the assistance of the 45 per cent. allowance is being transferred after purchase 269W out of development areas; and what steps he proposes to take to end this practice.
§ Mr. DellFirms that receive an investment grant at the development area rate on new plant or machinery are bound by an undertaking to notify the Board of Trade if, within a period of three years, the machinery or plant is moved out of the development area. An appropriate refund of grant is then payable and the Board of Trade have a system for inspecting grant-aided assets to ensure that firms comply with the undertakings they have given. I would be grateful if my hon. Friend would inform me of any specific instances which he may have in mind.
