§ Mr. Edwin Brooksasked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity whether she will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT the details of each dispute which has so far affected the motor vehicle industry this year, the number of days lost directly and indirectly due to each stoppage, and the estimated cost of the losses in production which occurred as a result of each stoppage.
§ Mr. HattersleyIt is not my Department's practice to publish statistics of stoppages of work due to industrial disputes naming individual establishments. In the ten months ending 31st October, 1968, the number of stoppages in the motor vehicle industry included in official statistics was 194. The number of days lost directly and indirectly by workers at the establishments where the stoppages occurred was 824,000. Official estimates are not available of the loss of production involved.
