§ 64. Mr. Macdonaldasked the Secretary of State for Defence whether in view of the fact that in Sweden all research on defence against chemical or biological warfare is done openly, he will declassify similar work in this country.
§ Mr. John MorrisI have had enquiries made and I am informed that it is not in fact the case that the Swedish Government has declassified all research on defence against chemical and biological warfare. The policy of the Swedish Government is similar to our own: it is to make public as much information as possible about work in this field, but as in this country there are certain areas of work which have to remain classified in the interests of national security.
