§ Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is yet in a position to lake steps to improve communications between Aberdeen and the 88W west and north of Scotland; and if he will state his relevant plans.
§ Mr. RossThe provision of transport services between Aberdeen and the west and north of Scotland is primarily a matter for the transport operators concerned. Financial assistance will be available under the Transport Act, 1968 for rural bus and ferry services, and for unremunerative railway passenger services which are socially or economically necessary. As for road improvements, I would refer my hon. and learned Friend to the answer I gave him on 8th May, 1968.—[Vol. 764, c.87–8.]
