§ Mr. Whitakerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will take steps to oblige the manufacturers of toxic household products to ensure that their labels carry information on how to neutralise the contents in case of accident, as proposed by the National Federation of Consumer Groups.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesI understand that very few toxic products have specific antidotes or neutralisers, and it would therefore not be practicable to impose a requirement of this kind. If a toxic product is swallowed accidentally, the first and safest course is to call a doctor at once.
