§ Mr. Lomasasked the Minister of Transport whether he will now give an assurance that he does not intend to remove the ban on learner-drivers using motorways.
§ Mr. MarshHon. Members will recall that in May of this year I invited interested organisations to consider whether the present ban on the use of motorways by learner drivers should now be removed, and to let me have their views. The bulk of opinion was against an unqualified removal of the ban and, in the light of these views and the reasons given for them I have decided not to make any change in the present arrangements.
