§ Mr. Ian Lloydasked the Minister of Transport whether he will now accelerate the provision and introduction of illuminated flashing school crossing patrol signs.
§ Mr. MarshExperiments have shown that flashing illumination would not be effective either for the signs carried by patrolmen or for warning signs on approaches to school crossings. But I shall shortly be making new Regulations permitting the signs carried by patrolmen to be illuminated by a continuous light where the authority decides that this is necessary. Also flashing amber lights are being tried in conjunction with some approach warning signs and I am prepared to extend these trials to other suitable sites.
