HC Deb 31 May 1968 vol 765 cc286-7W
Mr. William Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science, how many vacancies exist in Wales for speech therapists; how many vacancies have been advertised without any application; and what steps he has taken to ensure the training and recruiting of more speech therapists.

Mr. Edward Short

In Wales, in December, 1967, there were 11 full-time vacancies for speech therapists employed by local education authorities. I regret that I have no information about advertisements of such posts.

A proposal about the training of speech therapists in Wales is at present under consideration in the Department.
