Mr. Tapsell

asked the Minister of Social Security (1) how many claims were made for sickness benefit involving earnings related supplement in the last 12 months, where the illness lasted one month or less, between one and two months, between two and four months and four months or more, respectively; and what were the comparative figures for the 12 months preceding the introduction of the Earnings Related Scheme;

(2) how many claims were made for sickness benefit involving earnings related supplement in the last 12 months; and how many claims were made for sickness benefit for periods of more than 12 days for the 12 months prior to the introduction of the Earnings Related Scheme.
