HC Deb 31 May 1968 vol 765 c293W
Mr. Gurden

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will appoint to the Race Relations Board or to its committees persons who officially notify him that they are opposed to some of the provisions of the Race Relations Bill and in favour of further immigration limitation.

Mr. Callaghan

I propose to appoint to the Race Relations Board persons who will bring a balanced judgment to the duties laid on them by the provisions of the Race Relations Bill as eventually enacted. The appointment of members to conciliation committees will continue to be a matter for the Board itself.
