HC Deb 31 May 1968 vol 765 c303W
Mr. Francis Noel-Baker

asked the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs why Mr. Maurice Ash resigned from the Soulh-West Regional Economic Planning Board; and if he will publish his correspondence with Mr. Ash.

Mr. Shore

Mr. Ash declined my invitation to accept reappointment to the South-West Economic Planning Council because of his disagreement with the Government's regional policies. It is not usual to disclose correspondence between Ministers and members of Economic Planning Councils but since Mr. Ash's reasons for his resignation have already been publicised, I am arranging for copies of his letter of refusal of reappointment and my reply to be placed in the Library.
