§ Mr. Milneasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if, in considering the proposals for regulations to amend the Canned Meat Product Regulations, 1967, he will examine the possibility of introducing a quality control as well as a minimum content control.
§ Mr. HoyNo. This possibility was considered by the Food Standards Committee on whose report the Regulations are based. The Committee did not think it practicable except for the quality control inherent in limiting the amount of fat and the types of meat that may be used. More specific controls on the quality of the meat used, which would have to rely upon examination of the final product, would be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to enforce.
