§ 66. Mr. Rankinasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what special steps he proposes to take to stimulate the Scottish economy and raise the standard of living, in view of the fact that more than 50 per cent. of the population have incomes sufficiently low to exempt them from payment of prescription charges.
§ Mr. RossIt is not the case that about half the population will be exempt from prescription charges on income grounds; the great majority of exemptions will be on age grounds. A wide range of measures to stimulate the economic development of Scotland is already available.
