Mr. Edward M. Taylorasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many local authorities in England and Wales have made use of their powers to make grants towards the maintenance of railway lines, in each of the last five years.
§ Mr. SkeffingtonConsent has been given under Section 136 of the Local Government Act, 1948 to two authorities to make such grants. I have no information about any grants that local authorities may have made for this purpose under other powers.
