§ The Prime MinisterThe contents of my exchanges with foreign statesmen must remain confidential. The Governments concerned are, however, well aware of Her Majesty's Government's strong support for the aim of achieving a peaceful settlement in the Middle East; and they are also aware of Her Majesty's Government's consequent concern that both sides should refrain from provocative actions, such as might imperil the chances of achieving a settlement.
