§ Mr. RossDuring 1966–67 the average weekly costs to the local authorities in Scotland of maintaining a child in care, in a foster home were £2 13s. 4d. and in a local authority home £12 0s. 8d. The Government's share of the cost of child care is covered in the rate support grant arrangements, under which 63.5 per cent. of all the reckonable expenditure of local authorities is now met by Exchequer grants.
