HC Deb 14 May 1968 vol 764 cc228-9W
Mr. Lomas

asked the Minister of Health by how much board and lodging charges for nurses are to be increased; and how much this increase will affect the new rates of pay for nurses and midwives as outlined in the Report of the National Board for Prices and Incomes, No. 60.

Mr. K. Robinson

The Nurses and Midwives Whitley Council have so far agreed to a 4 per cent. increase from 1st October, 1967. This is in accordance with the Board's recommendation that these charges should be increased as from 1st October, 1967 and 1st January, 1969 in the same proportion as the general salary increases on those dates. The increases in salaries and training allowances range from £15 to £89 a year and the increases in board and lodging charges from £6 to £19.
