HC Deb 14 May 1968 vol 764 cc224-5W
50. Mr. Eadie

asked the Minister of Power what survey has been made of Michael Colliery, East Wemyss, with a view to supplying coal to the proposed aluminium smelter in Scotland.

Mr. Gunter

I am informed that after an exhaustive examination of all the current factors, the National Coal Board have concluded that steps should not be taken now to re-open Michael Colliery.

No decision has yet been taken on the possible siting of an aluminium smelter in Scotland, and I would ask the hon. Member to await the promised statement.
