HC Deb 14 May 1968 vol 764 cc241-2W
Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland why no fertiliser practice survey, similar to that undertaken in England and Wales in 1965–66, has been carried out in Scotland; and if he will now undertake such a survey.

Mr. Ross

Between 1956 and 1965, a co-ordinated programme of 50 district surveys of fertiliser practice was carried out by the three agricultural colleges, in asociation with the Macaulay Institute for Soil Research and the Agricultural Research Council's Unit of Statistics. In 1966 it was decided that a sufficient bank of information had been secured and that future surveys should be at longer intervals.
