§ 68. Mr. Roseasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will make a statement on the derogations from human rights conventions signed by the United Kingdom; and if he will remove those during Human Rights Year.
§ Mr. Goronwy RobertsThere is still an outstanding derogation notified by the United Kingdom under the European Convention on Human Rights. This was made at the request of the Government of Northern Ireland. I do not expect that it will lie possible for this to be withdrawn during Human Rights Year.
