§ Mr. Eldon Griffithsasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department why he did not include among the 80 organisations consulted on the Race Relations Bill in advance of its publication the Association of Chief Police Officers, the Superintendents' Association and the Police Federation.
§ Mr. CallaghanBefore publication of the Bill these organisations were sent a memorandum explaining how the police service would be affected. The Bill includes a technical provision adapting the employment provisions to the circumstances of the police service but otherwise it contains no special provisions affecting the police.
