Mr. Alan Lee Williamsasked the Minister of Technology whether he is able to make a statement on the experiments that are being made on the possible effects of a permanent Thames barrier; and whether his scientists have been able to deal with the problem of siltation.
§ Mr. FowlerThe Hydraulics Research Station has recently commenced a study, using an hydraulic model, for the Greater London Council, of the effects of a permanent barrier on siltation of the Thames Estuary and methods of reducing it. The investigation is likely to take two years 111W to complete. No interim results are available, and no other experiments are being undertaken by the Department.
