§ 19. Sir C. Osborneasked the Minister of Technology if he will give an assurance that Government subsidies will not be involved in the Rolls-Royce contract to supply jet engines to the United States of America; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. StonehouseAs my right hon. Friend said in his statement on 1st April, the launching aid which the Government has agreed in principle to grant for the R.B.211 will be in accordance with normal practice. The aid is not a subsidy since it is recoverable over sales of the engine and was reflected in the price Rolls-Royce quoted.—[Vol. 762, c. 44–9.]
