§ Mr. Wrightasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress has been made by the working party which is considering the provision of community centres in new housing areas.
§ Mr. RossI think the hon. Member is referring to the Working Party of Corporation and Departmental officials which, as I told him in anwser to his Question on 31st January, was set up to examine how progress might be made in the provision of community facilities and the development of community activities in the new housing areas of Glasgow. It has been considering how, both in the short-term and in the long-term and within the resources likely to be available, more social and recreational facilities could be provided, especially for young people, in these areas. Much is already being done both by Glasgow Corporation and by voluntary bodies, but I understand that the Working Party hopes to be able to put forward some positive recommendations before long.—[Vol. 757, c.303–4.]
