§ Mr. Edwin Wainwrightasked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that the rate of unemployment in the Mexborough Employment Exchange area is now over 4.8 per cent.; and if he will make a statement on his plans to reduce the numbers of unemployed in that area.
§ Mr. DarlingTotal unemployment in the Mexborough-Goldthorpe Employment Exchange area in March was 4.5 per cent., as compared with 4.6 per cent. and 4.8 per cent. in February and January, respectively. In Mexborough, as in other parts of the Yorkshire Coalfield, we follow a liberal policy on industrial development certificates. There are new developments yet to be completed in the area which are expected to provide several hundred jobs.
