Mr. Dewar

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what proportion of the secondary school population in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee and Scotland as a whole attends grant-aided, independent and local authority fee-paying schools, respectively.

NOTE: For the purpose of calculating the percentage figure of secondary school population in each city attending grant-aided and independent schools it has been assumed that all pupils attending grant-aided or independent schools, whether as boarders or day pupils, are part of the secondary school population of the city in which the school is situated.
