§ Mr. Gwynfor Evansasked the Minister of Labour how many new jobs were created in manufacturing industries in Wales in 1967 and how many old ones were lost.
§ Mr. FernyhoughI regret that this information is not available in the form requested. The only comprehensive74W figures showing changes in the number of jobs are obtained by comparing for different years the mid-year estimate of employees in employment. The figures show net changes only, and there is no way of identifying "jobs created" and "jobs lost". The mid-year estimates for Wales show that there were 321,100 employees in employment in manufacturing industries (orders III to XVI of the Standard Industrial Classification) in 1967 compared with 330,800 in 1966.
