§ Mr. Gowerasked the Secretary of State for Wales what is his latest estimate of the economic growth achieved in Wales since November, 1965, and since August, 1967, respectively; and whether he now proposes to revise the estimates of economic growth made by his Department at the time of the publication of Wales—The Way Ahead, in July, 1967.
§ Mr. Cledwyn HughesI assume that the hon. Member is referring to the estimates of employment made in the White Paper (Cmnd. 3334). Since these were made the Regional Employment Premium and other Government measures, including the creation of Special Development Areas, have been introduced and I am confident that the White Paper did not over estimate the prospects of growth.
