§ 34. Dr. Millerasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how much money was spent on coronary artery disease in the United Kingdom in the last three years; and if he will make a statement on the latest position with reference to aetiology, early diagnosis and treatment.
§ Mrs. Shirley WilliamsIt is not possible to provide art estimate of expenditure on research on coronary artery disease since this work forms part of a wide programme of investigations into cardiovascular disorders being carried out in Medical Research Council establishments, universities and hospital departments. Many different approaches to this problem are being pursued and it would not344W be practicable to summarise the latest position here. I would refer my hon. Friend to the medical and scientific journals, where the results of this work are published as they become available.
