But in the period April, 1964, to December, 1967, £15.3 million was paid in building grants to firms in Scotland and £21.2 million in general purpose loans and grants. The corresponding numbers of applications refused on the advice of the Committee were 81 in the case of building grants and 97 in the case of general purpose loans and grants.
